Charmaine Masebelanga is an occupational therapist with 10 years of clinical experience in various clinical settings including:

  • amputations
  • back and neck conditions
  • functional capacity evaluations
  • workplace and home assessments
  • prescription of assistive devices etc.

Steps to Function Services:

  • Occupational Therapy Medico-legal Assessments – for Plaintiff and/or Defense
  • Functional Capacity Evaluations for insurers and employers
  • Return-to-Work Services
  • Case Management and Coordination
  • Incapacity and Disability Management Consulting (Total and Temporary Disability & Total and Permanent Disability / or Short & Long Period Incapacity and Ill Health Retirement; (inclusive of  Statistical/Trends Analysis and Client Reporting for Health Risk Managers and clients)
  • Work site visits and Home visits to identify barriers and prescribe modifications and/or reasonable accommodations as well as assistive devices.

She helped  establish a community outreach clinic and provided services at this clinics, assisted with the revision of the Disability Policy for the SANDF; Equal Opportunities Chief Directorate as well as the Assistive Devices  Policy for the South African Military Health Services (SAMHS).

During her tenure in clinical practice, she was also involved in student training and supervision of students from the University of the Western Cape, Stellenbosch, Cape Town, and Pretoria.

After leaving clinical practice, she joined the field of Health Risk Management (Absenteeism, Incapacity and Disability Management) where she worked for 10 years, assisting with the design, implementation and management of absenteeism, incapacity & disability management solutions from policy development, designing solutions, training, implementation, to monitoring and reporting for the Public Sector.

Charmaine now works in Private Practice and is ErgoScience Certified® and has been trained in the use of the Psychiatric Functional Capacity Evaluation (PFCE) Tool developed by Karen Theunissen.
